Play-off action for the 4th and 5th placed teams started at Milton Keynes with the Slough Jets hosting the second leg 24 hours later.

In a weekend series all about momentum Milton Keynes got the first goal when Leigh Jamieson netted 204 seconds into the game. Joe Greener levelled it up at 6.58 with an assist from Gregg Rockman before the home team turned the period into their own. Adam Brittle made it 2-1 at 11.59 and Adam Carr scored the third goal for Milton Keynes at 12.24 provoking Doug Sheppard to call the visitors time-out. Carr netted for a second time at 17.29 to make it 4-1 heading into the first interval.

Slough came out hard in the second period and despite Michael Wales making it 5-1 at 25.50 Darius Pliskauskas started a spirited comeback for Slough at 26.22. Ryan Watt scored from Calder and Connolly at 27.29 converting Slough’s second powerplay of the night and Dan Davies pulled it back to 5-4 at 30.23 which was immediately followed by Milton Keynes time-out. Jamieson scored his second at 38.03, against the run of play for a 6-4 scoreline at the second interval.

Slough peppered Barry Hollyhead in net with 13 shots in the final period but the veteran netminder kept a clean sheet while at the other end Toumas Tikkanen had scored at 54.20 to finish the 1st leg tally at 7-4.

The first period was penalised to an unusually high degree for a play-off game and it was the home team powerplay unit that got the scoring started at 11.58 when James Hutchinson netted. Despite the home team enjoyed the greater of the powerplay opportunities the period ended at just 1-0.

Slough again gave away two penalties in the middle period compared to no powerplay opportunities but at 30.46 Jan Krajicek scored and pulled the game level and the period ended up at 1-1.

Peterborough edged themselves ahead at 46.01 when Jeff Glowa scored but Dan Davies levelled up at 50.11. Darius Pliskauskas then gave the visitors their first lead of the game at 51.22 and Ryan Watt ended the game at 2-4 when he scored with 4 minutes left.
