The home team enjoyed a great start to the game when Lukas Smital netted after 6.55 and Matt Foord doubled the lead at 7.17. Darius Pliskauskas finally netted the visitors opening goal at 16.55 with a powerplay strike and the first period ended 2-1.

After 4.21 of the middle period Pliskauskas netted again for a 2-2 scoreline, this one scored shorthanded. Special teams also provided the next goal when Mindy Kieras scored a powerplay goal to give Slough their first lead of the game at 27.23. Smital’s second, on the powerplay, equalised at 3-3 at 30.24 but Kieras scored a second, another powerplay goal, at 33.43 to give Slough back the lead which they held until the interval.

The third period saw momentum swing from side to side as Slough extended their lead through a Frantisek Bakrlik powerplay goal at 43.51 to make the score 3-5 but a penalty shot chance for Bracknell came at 56.38 after Matt Towalski fell on the puck in the crease. Shaun Thompson netted the fourth of the night for the home team and with 2.30 left in regulation Cox took the time-out option. He pulled the netminder and the gamble paid off at 59.55 when Thompson scored the fifth and equalising goal forcing the game to overtime.

The extra five minutes failed to separate the game and penalties were needed. With all but Darius Pliskauskas failing to score Slough gained the winner’s point from the penalty shoot-out.
