After a scoreless first period Ryan Aldridge converted a powerplay at 21.14 to make it 1-0 but at 22.30 Dan Davies equalised the game and at 25.51 Darius Pliskauskas scored a powerplay goal to put Slough ahead. Aku Pekkarinen pulled Swindon level and then put them ahead with two powerplay goals to end the second period 3-2.

A quick opening goal in the middle period from Henri Sandvik was the final strike of the night allowing the night to end 4-2 in favour of the home team and set the series up for the second leg at the Hangar in a week.
