Slough opened the game’s scoring when Ciaran Long netted on a powerplay chance at 5.17 but Blaz Emersic scored the equaliser at 9.41 and after the opening 20 minutes the teams shared the honours.

30 combined shots in the middle period resulted in just 1 goal as the teams upped the intensity forcing both netminders into big saves. Rockman faced 21 shots while Mettam faced 9 but with 30 seconds to go Kamil Tvrdek scored a powerplay goal to put the visitors ahead of 40 minutes.

Slough dominated the third period, doubling the shots on their opponents but Chris Wiggins netted the third of the night for Milton Keynes at 50.11 in a tight call as the whistle blew to stop play. Nick Chinn scored on the powerplay to make it 1-4 at 51.34 but Dan Davies kept Slough in the aggregate series with a goal at 54.14 to end the first leg 2-4.

Slough enjoyed a good start when Adam Calder put them ahead at 3.25 and after a penalty kill starting at 13.19 held the lead until 17.25 when Blaz Emersic scored to level the game.

After 14.31 of the second period Blaz Emersic scored his second of the night to put the home team ahead for the first time in the game but Adam Calder netted a shorthanded goal at 36.41 to level up again and for the second time the teams took the interval tied.

The third period was a see-saw ride for the teams with Joe Greener putting the visitors back ahead at 41.24 and Slough then killing the period’s only penalty to Ryan Watt. Jamie Line scored to level the game just 4 seconds short of the midway point in the period but Darius Pliskauskas stepped forward with the game winning goal at 56.45. Doug Sheppard called the away team timeout at 59.33 and his team hung on to their lead for the win.

The final game of the regular season had Slough travelled to Sheffield to play the second of the home and away weekend series.

Slough failed to find their feet in the final game of the regular season and Sheffield capitalised. The home team scored first with a powerplay goal at 5.42 from Matt Haywood and James Archer scored 2.59 later. Lee Haywood made it 3-0 heading into the break with another powerplay goal at 17.08.

Slough got into the game in the second period when Billy Phillips made it 3-1 at 22.38 but Matt Haywood put the margin back to 3 goals at 26.21. At the other end of the period Peter Poljacek scored Slough’s second at 35.02 but again Sheffield quickly restored their margin with a a Chris Sykes goal at 37.32.

The final period was all the home team when Archer scored his second at 40.55 and Matt Haywood his hat-trick goal at 52.28. Sheffield’s seventh was enough for Slough to swap netminders and Joe Myers took over for the final 7.32 successfully saving the only shot he faced.
